Shen Yun Show

This post is about our visit to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Shen Yun show. Shen Yun Performing Arts is an entertainment company based in New York and dedicated to reviving the glorious heritage of 5,000 years of civilization.

Chinese culture was believed to be transmitted by the divine through various dynasties. Sadly, China’s traditional culture and virtues have been devastated under 60 years of communist rule. Today you cannot see a performance like Shen Yun in China according to shenyun.com.

Stop at Miami Beach

For our Wedding Anniversary we flew into Miami, and drove down to the FL Keys from there. Being in Miami, we decided to revisit South Beach and my favorite strip there – Ocean Drive.

A New Ski Season

In December, Dave and I started a new ski season at Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia. We enjoy this resort very much, even though it takes us about 5-6 hours to get there depending on weather. Usually, we take a road trip and stay there for 2-3 days, but this time we decided to take a one day bus trip for the first time. We started our ride very early and completed it very late, but we had a whole day of fun skiing. The only drawback was the lack of sun.

Show at Shakespeare Theatre

One of my Christmas presents was the tickets to the Shakespeare theatre for the musical “A Funny Thing happened on the Way to the Forum.” This show takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from the comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the energy of vaudeville. Forum first came to Broadway in 1962, and the music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart have held up remarkably well for 50 years.

New Year’s Eve at Medieval Times

The New Year 2014 is here and with it comes a clean slate where everyone can make changes for the better. New is the year, new are the resolutions and the aspirations. Let’s welcome this New Year with smiles on our faces and hopes in our hearts for the best.

2014 is the Year of the Horse according to Chinese zodiac. The Year of the Horse starts from Jan. 31, 2014, the Lunar New Year, and lasts to Feb. 18, 2015. Dave and I decided to celebrate New Year’s Eve at Medieval Times – Baltimore Castle.
