Cancun – Paradisus (Gran Melia) hotel

This is the last post on our Cancun vacation, which I want to complete with some pictures of the hotel we stayed in. Formerly known as the Grand Melia Cancun, the Paradisus Cancun has consistently won the AAA 4 diamond award and is part of Preferred Hotels of the World.

It has modern pyramidal design and consists of 5 pyramid-like buildings. Picture of the hotel building and the room can be viewed here. The 5 star Paradisus Cancun is located ocean front and is an elegant, spacious and distinguished hotel. Here is the beautiful hotel lobby where guests are greeted with a new flower arrangement every day.

We stayed in the center pyramid, where the main lobby is. I was really impressed with the lobby. It was like stepping into an oasis with tropical vines cascading from the top of a 9 story atrium to the lobby level (2nd floor).

A ceiling skylight filters sunlight over sunken Polynesian gardens on the ground level, with ponds of gold fish, feathery palms and walkways to cedar decks with canvas umbrellas.

The beach is gorgeous there with white sand, but the water is rough in this area most of the time.

There are several swimming pools at the hotel. The enormous pool in the picture below was right under our room balcony.

Some sculptures next to the building in the Red Level, which provides upgraded services.

Pretty steep stairs on the way to the hotel entrance, which we had to overcome several times a day every day. 🙂

And what a beautiful sunset over Neptune Lagoon! The sun looks huge, but the sunset is very short there.

Here are some pictures of the lobby at night, which looks amazing. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel very much and I recommend Paradisus Cancun to anyone!
